We’ve seen quite a bit from the Air Force 1 in recent months. From wild colorways to wilder recreations, the silhouette has been busy ever since the start of the year. And that’s not soon to stop as the brand has dressed the classic in not only tan leathers but also some metallic gold bling. The scheme itself is a rather timeless mix of two tones.
At a glance, the silhouette seems unchanged, its shape deceptively similar to the GRs currently on the shelves. But, upon closer inspection, there lies noticeable differences in stitch and even choice of material. The latter, which owes a robust leather for its premium effect, reveals its quality at each panels’ edge as the natural tone of the fabrication’s grain shines through much like Union’s take on the Air Jordan 1 in 2018. Alongside, metallic dubraes accessorize at the vamp, matching that of the Swoosh and heel tab whose finish bears a metallic silver coating.
The time of the year is approaching where the temperatures drop and the streets start get a little more slippery due to more consistent precipitation. To achieve peak comfortability during this season, one will most likely need a pair of functional footwear to combat the rain, sleet, and snow, and that’s where Nike’s traditional GORE-TEX-infused offerings come in handy. In recent memory, the Swoosh team has unwrapped a slew of forthcoming Air Force 1 GORE-TEX colorways, and they’re about to add another low-profile iteration to their Autumn/Winter lineup.
Swooshes, as well as their connected heel tabs, are polished and smoothened out in a dark, brogue-like brown, lying against a backdrop of translucent PVC tinted to fit the holiday’s core aesthetics.
